How can I learn Reiki?
Reiki is a simple technique to learn. It is possible for everyone to learn Reiki. The theory and techniques of Reiki can be learned through books, audiobooks, or videos. To channel Reiki, though, an attunement with a Reiki Master is required.
What is a Reiki attunement?
Attunement means to become attuned into something … in this particular case we are talking about becoming attuned into the subtle Universal Life Force energy also called Reiki.
An attunement or initiation is a procedure in which a Reiki Master transmits Reiki energy to the spiritual bodies and chakras of the initiate or student.
This process opens up the body’s energy channels allowing the universal life energy to flow through the whole body. The initiation allows the receiver to become a permanent channel for Reiki.
Besides Reiki, the most well-known energy healing system, there are many energy systems out there that work on their own or are designed to be integrated with Reiki. Usually attunements are performed pretty much the same way as Reiki.
Through the attunement process, the initiate will become a permanent channel for a particular subtle energy, being able to activate and use the energy whenever needed and also being able to attune others into it as well. The attunement ceremony is performed either in person or remotely, over long distances.
What is Reiki lineage?
Lineage can be described as a linear succession of a particular ancestor´s teaching.
The founder of a healing system passes on the teachings to the student and transmits the necessary initiations so that the student can begin to teach and attune others themselves, which in turn passes on to someone else, and so forth. This continuous transference from one person to another forms a “heritage” (or succession) that traces back to where it initially began — the founder of the healing system.
In the case of Usui Reiki, the student can trace her/his Reiki lineage by her/his teacher´s, following all way back the lineage which would lead to Mrs. Takata, who was initiated by Mr. Hayashi, who was initiated by Sensei Mikao Usui.
What are the ways to receive an Attunement?
There are different ways to receive Attunements. To cater to our many students from around the world, we offer distance Attunements.
For the distance Attunement process, the initiate does not need to be physically in the presence of the Reiki Master; in fact, they do not even need to be geographically close to each other. This is of mutual significance due to the differences in time zones.
Generally, when you purchase an energy healing modality course, it will also include the necessary information regarding the Attunement (also initiation) process.
What is a Chi Ball?
Chi Ball is a widely used method for sending healing energy to a person or situation via distance, but it is also a commonly used way for sending Attunement and empowerment. Chi Ball is not part of traditional Reiki, but it works very well in conjunction with it.
Can I re-do an Attunement?
While it is sufficient to receive Attunement only once, it is at your disposal to renew your Attunement at any time you wish.

The techniques involved are quite intuitive and easy to learn. Therefore, the ability to channel Reiki (in order to use it) is transferred from the Reiki Master Teacher to the student during the so-called initiation or Attunement – meaning that you need to undergo through the Attunement process first.
